From presentation titled The Evolution of Video Activism in Turkey, given at The Power of Activist Video conference, held at the ICI Berlin, May 2017. At the time, video activist Kazım Kızıl had been arrested in İzmir during a demonstration held in protest of the 16 April 2017 constitutional referendum results in Turkey. Kızıl was jailed  on the charge of “insulting the president.” 

From presentation titled The Evolution of Video Activism in Turkey, given at The Power of Activist Video conference, held at the ICI Berlin, May 2017. At the time, video activist Kazım Kızıl had been arrested in İzmir during a demonstration held in protest of the 16 April 2017 constitutional referendum results in Turkey. Kazım was jailed  on the charge of “insulting the president.” Conference organizers and participants joined in on the hashtag campaign to make Kazım’s unlawful arrest visible.
